First
of all, I have got to say that the folks of Patrick County and the surrounding
area have got to be some of the friendliest people in Virginia. I don't think
I have attended a bluegrass event that I have felt such great hospitality.
I
can assure you, that nobody who attended the Patrick County Music Association's
"March Extravaganza" in Stuart, Va. was disappointed with the quality
of bluegrass music that was performed by the many bands.
A very special
treat was seeing Ms. Haley Stiltner (a freshmen at ETSU) sitting in with one of
the bluegrass masters, Lou Reid and his band Carolina. His regular banjo player,
Trevor Watson, was on leave to attend a family function and Lou asked Haley to
fill his shoes, so she kicked off hers (shoes, that is) and got the job done!
By
the way ... thanks for the great time to the Patrick County Bluegrass Assocation!
We will be back again sometime soon!
